Doula – Accompanying Birth
(Including knowledge-sharing for beginning doulas and supervision for professionals)
Birth is one of the most meaningful human experiences we encounter — as those who are born, as those who give birth, and as the partners of birthing women.
I have been accompanying births for the past 23 years מתוך a deep sense of calling and privilege.
I believe that every woman deserves a healthy, good, and joyful experience of pregnancy and birth. And for women whose previous experiences were not such, future births absolutely can — and should — become healing, restorative, and growth-promoting experiences.
What is a “good birth experience”? — for every woman, it is different.
Without epidural / with epidural, cesarean or vaginal birth, in a hospital or elsewhere, controlling every detail or surrendering to the process — in each birth (and in each moment), something different may be right for each woman.
But there is one essential and shared principle — and toward this I orient in every birth: that the birth belongs to the woman. That she is the one leading and choosing. That she feels present and has ownership of her birth and her process.
When such a birth takes place, a woman can emerge from birth feeling powerful, intoxicated with joy, and with the sense that anything in the world is possible for her — holding her baby in her arms, she can climb Everest and overcome any obstacle.
This is the extraordinary power of birth.
This is how healthy and joyful babies are born.
This is how there is less violence on the roads.
This is how there are fewer wars in the world.
This is how a healthy, strong, and life-giving society is created.
That is why I am here.
The path toward this begins with meeting and knowing oneself — the birthing woman. Knowing what feels good and right for me, how I will recognize it, and how I will communicate it to the team caring for me.
Sometimes this involves looking at patterns from the past and inviting them to update and transform. At other times, it means learning and choosing practical approaches relevant to the more “concrete” aspects of birth. As mentioned, each woman’s path is unique.
Over the years, I have specialized in letting go of my own agendas regarding what a “good birth” should look like, and in releasing my own wishes for other women.
Instead, I have specialized in creating an atmosphere of safety and love (among everyone present at the birth), of compassion and radical acceptance, and of trust in life processes and their movement toward goodness.
I have gathered many practical tools along the way — shiatsu during birth, reflexology during birth, oils, homeopathy, massage, and more —
as well as emotional and relational tools (which for me are at the heart of birth and its movement toward goodness), such as Birth-Oriented Therapy (BOT), Focusing, Family Constellation, and others.
Of course, one of my central tools is a deep understanding of the physiological and anatomical processes of birth, together with the emotional processes that arise throughout each stage.
Over the past year, I have begun reducing the number of women and families to whom I dedicate myself through full birth accompaniment (usually accompanying only women who have previously birthed with me, or women with complex “stories” asking to transform and move forward through this shared birth journey). I have increasingly shifted my focus toward mentoring professionals while they accompany births and processes of their own, and afterward engaging together in reflection for integration, growth, and learning.
I wish all birthing women, all newborn babies, and all partners, siblings, and extended families — wondrous births: healthy and healing, joyful and growth-filled.
*** If you are approaching birth — you are warmly invited to an introductory meeting, free of charge and without commitment.
In the meeting, we can speak about birth in general, hospitals, birth positions, doula accompaniment, and you will also be able to sense whether the connection with me feels supportive for you.
*** If you are a professional or a doula — you are warmly invited to a supervision session.
A space for deep reflection — physiological, emotional, and spiritual — on a birth you accompanied, in order to understand more deeply and continue learning toward future births.
I would love to talk
